Today is a day to honor the things I have done right, within, what seems in my mind sometimes to be a dense forest of mistakes. To el bosque I say STFU.

My second son was at Austin-Bergstrom while I was driving my neighbors to DIA. How apropos and fun. Jiro is traveling to Paris by way of Amsterdam. Gonna hang a while then head to Málaga for a half marathon. I was not doing any of this at 23. I was working for cable show, The Days and Night’s of Molly Dodd, at Kaufman Astoria Studios in the Bronx. I was drinking too much and wait…way too much but functional enough. The Cosby Show and its actors and Lenny and omg, shot in the studio next to ours.

My kid decided something and committed and was doing it. On his own dime, little preparation, a free spirit so to speak. I have that in my back pocket. I-we-all of us including his older brother raised that kid. Yasssssss we DID. I sometimes can’t even believe I am writing this kinda information, but I think it is important to celebrate what you did right. And today is the day. Wish him well. I will now check the cloud to see exactly where he is.
